This newspaper broke many of the key stories of the 20th century including: the thalidomide scandal in the 1960s, the exposure of former MI6 agent Kim Philby as a Soviet spy, the revelations about the Israeli nuclear program in 1986, and its own scandal involving the forged Hitler Diaries in 1983.
